Everything you need to know about getting a Blue Plaque

To have a chance of being awarded one of these commemorative plaques you should;

  • Be dead for 20 years, or be born at least 100 years before today's date - whichever comes earlier.
  • Be regarded as quite brilliant by other members of your profession.
  • Make some sort of outstanding contribution the welfare or happiness of your fellow human being.
  • Live at the house in question either for a significant period of time, or during an important period of your life.
  • Get yourself recognised by the average well-informed person on the street, or do something that will deserve national recognition.
  • Get yourself an international reputation or quite an excellent standing, if you're foreign.
